BODY WORK THERAPIES

Holistic Massage

Massage uses special techniques of touch to the soft tissues of the body – muscles, ligaments, fascia and skin. This in turn affects the muscles, joints, nervous system and the circulation of blood and lymph. Massage helps to promote a sense of well being, releasing stress and tension and aiding relaxation.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the holistic use of essential oils to help treat the mind, body and spirit.
An essential oil is the highly concentrated essence of an aromatic plant, e.g. flower, herb or fruit. It is the enzyme / hormone of the plant used, to aid well being and health. Due to the high concentration of the essential oils, they are mixed with carrier oils for treatment.
Aromatherapy treatments are usually given by means of massage, but essential oils can also be used by such means as inhalation, baths and compresses and occasionally, but only on the advice of a qualified therapist, by ingestion.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue Massage works at the physical, mental and often spiritual level, helping to relieve pain from muscle tension and stress, restoring balance and harmony to the body.

A combination of movements is used during the treatment together with some breath work. These movements are deeper and often slower than for normal holistic massage, using a combination of arms, elbows, hands, thumbs and knuckles. The movements allow for compression and release of the muscles. Combined with the Deep breathing techniques, the release aids the bodies rebalancing, enhancing physical health & mental well being.

Reflexology & Reflexology in Pregnancy

Originally known as reflex zone therapy, Reflexology is a holistic healing method involving pressure and massage of reflex points found on the feet and hands.

In Reflexology, the term ‘reflex’ is used in the sense of reflection or mirror image. Reflexology is based on the discovery that there are points on the feet and hands that correspond to organs, systems and structures within the entire body. A reflex is when stimulation at one point brings about a response in another point or area. By using the special pressure techniques to stimulate the points on the feet and/or hands, imbalances in tissues, organs and body systems can be both detected and effectively treated to restore balance and well-being.

As with all complementary disciplines, a person and their disease cannot be divided into separate treatable parts, but must be treated as a whole – mind body and spirit, each of which interacts and influences the other. Reflexology is, therefore, a very effective therapy in the cases of stress related illnesses and can be used as a preventive measure against ill health.
