REIKI

Reiki is an ancient healing method originating in Tibet. The tradition of Reiki is referred to in 2500-year-old writings in Sanskrit, and was rediscovered in the 19th century by Dr Mikao Usui. The Usui system of Natural Healing, named after Dr Usui has been passed down by Reiki Masters since that time and is, today, practised worldwide.

As humans we have Universal Life Force Energy within us and all around us. The Japanese word ‘REI-KI’ consists of two syllables, ‘REI’ describing the cosmic, universal aspect of this energy and ‘KI’ which means the fundamental life force. This life force is pulsating and flowing through all living things, it is given to us at birth and is used up in the business of ordinary everyday living. We then have to create a new supply. When we are unable to make up for our energy consumption over a prolonged period, we may become emotionally or physically ill.

Reiki is a natural and simple healing method, which re-vitalises the life force and balances the energies in the body. This healing energy flows in a powerful and concentrated form through the hands of the Reiki giver. The laying on of hands directs the healing energy into the body of the receiver. The Reiki giver is used as a channel to conduct the Universal Life Force Energy, no personal energy is drawn or drained from the giver who is simultaneously charged and strengthened. Reiki works by the healer placing hands on the client (fully clothed); energy is channelled, flowing to the parts of the body that need healing, be it for a specific illness, injury, emotional distress or for general stress relief.

Some of the benefits of Reiki include reducing stress and tension, promoting relaxation. Reiki gently releases past pain and trauma, and supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
